Do hamsters get lonely without another hamster?

i am going to get a hamster this saturday. its going to be a boy and i am going to feed it and play with it and i already got its cage and house ready and bought its food but do u think that he will get lonely without another hamster in the same cage with him? and i already know that if i get this hamster and then next month i decide to get another hamster i cant put it in the same cage because they are territorial. thats why i need to know now. thank you.
