How should I introduce my dog to another dog?

So I have a 1 year old Lab and she is so sweet but she is scared around other dogs and there is a dog at the shelter I work at he is a 3 year old husky and we want to foster him but first I need my dog to meet him and I was wondering how I should do it I wanted to take them both on a walk with my family on a public trail because someone said I should introduce them on no mans land so no one gets territorial so should I do that or something els and what els can I do for there meeting to be less tense?
