Are my Convict Chiclids getting ready to mate?

I have a pair of 2 convict chilids and they always stay in tghis corner of my 30 gallon tank. They have been together for a year or two now and have never mated. I have a vase in there almost like a cave they both are very territorial when other fish enter it. Especially the male.
